Why a token doesn't show a price in Phantom

  • Updated

If a token in your portfolio shows no price, Phantom may not be able to retrieve market data for it. This does not always mean the token is unsafe, but it does mean the token may have limited support, little market activity, or higher risk.

Some tokens may display messages such as:

  • "Price history unavailable for this token"
  • "We are having trouble updating your token prices"

Why does this happen?

The token does not meet pricing requirements

Phantom shows prices for tokens listed on supported data sources, such as CoinGecko or Birdeye, that meet minimum market data requirements. Some legitimate tokens may not show a price if they are too new, too small, or not widely tracked yet.

There is little or no liquidity

A token can exist onchain but still have no active market. Without enough liquidity or recent trading activity, Phantom may be unable to generate a quote or display a reliable price.

The token may be spam, fake, or designed to trap buyers

Some tokens are sent to wallets without permission and imitate legitimate assets. These tokens may not be listed on trusted sources or may have no real liquidity.

Warning: Do not interact with links, websites, or claim instructions tied to unfamiliar tokens. Even if a token shows a value, that value may be misleading or spoofed.

What you can do

  1. Verify the token's contract address and confirm it matches the official project.
  2. If you did not expect the token, treat it as suspicious and avoid interacting with any linked content.
  3. If the token appears to be spam, go to the token page and select MoreReport As Spam.

If pricing data becomes available later, Phantom may show the token's price again.
