This article explains what to do if you can’t remember the twelve-word recovery phrase used to restore a Phantom wallet.
Your twelve-word Secret Recovery Phrase is the only way to restore a wallet that was not created using Apple or Google sign-in. A public wallet address (sometimes called a public key) cannot be used to restore access to a wallet.
If you still have access to Phantom
If you’re still logged in to Phantom on any device, such as the browser extension or mobile app, export your Secret Recovery Phrase and store it securely before losing access.
- Go to Settings → Security and Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase.
- Follow the prompts to view the phrase, then store it in a secure, offline location.
Important: Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone — not even Phantom support. Always store it offline in a safe place that only you can access.
If you don’t have access to Phantom
If Phantom was deleted or reset, your device was lost, or you’re signed out on all devices and don’t have your Secret Recovery Phrase backed up, the wallet cannot be recovered.
Phantom does not store Secret Recovery Phrases. The Phantom support team will never ask for them, and there’s no way to retrieve a recovery phrase from device storage after access to the wallet is lost.
