This article explains what to do if you can’t remember your private key. A private key allows access to a specific account on a specific blockchain network.
Each account in Phantom has its own private key. If you lose a private key and do not have a backup, you permanently lose access to that account.
If you still have access to Phantom
If you’re still signed in to Phantom on any device, such as the browser extension or the mobile app, you can export your private key and store it securely before you lose access.
- Go to Settings → Manage Accounts.
- Select the account in the browser extension, or tap the pencil icon next to the account in the mobile app.
- Select Show Private Key.
- Follow the prompts to copy the private key and store it in a secure, offline location.
Never share your private key with anyone. Phantom support will never ask for it.
If you don’t have access to Phantom
If you deleted or reset the Phantom app, lost your device, and did not back up your private key, the account cannot be recovered.
Phantom does not store private keys. The Phantom Support team cannot restore them or retrieve them from your device after access is lost.
Always store private keys securely and offline to avoid permanent loss of access to your accounts.
