This article explains how to move any funds from your current Phantom wallet to a new one, whenever you need to start over. This can be helpful if your current wallet was compromised but still contains funds you want to keep, provided that you're able to transfer them.
- If you created your current Phantom wallet with an Apple or Google account and use a four-digit PIN to access it, go to the Google/Apple wallets section for instructions.
- If you used a 12-word recovery phrase, go to the Recovery phrase wallets section for instructions.
Requirements
- You must be able to still access your current wallet on at least one device. If you can’t access the wallet, you won’t be able to move funds out of it.
- You have enough gas on each chain you want to move funds from. For specific amounts, see Recommended amounts of native tokens by chain.

Step 1: Check what assets are still in your current wallet
Before you delete your current wallet or start over, review your current wallet for any remaining assets, including the following:
- Token balances
- NFTs
- Staked assets
- DeFi positions
- Perp and prediction positions
Step 2: Create a temporary wallet with a recovery phrase
You may need a temporary wallet created with a recovery phrase to hold your assets while you start over.
Creating the temporary wallet is easiest on another device or in the Phantom browser extension using a supported browser. Safari isn’t supported for the Phantom browser extension.
For example, you can install Phantom on a second phone, or install it in Chrome on your computer.
Once Phantom is installed, open it and follow these steps:
- Select Create a new wallet.
- Select Create a seed phrase wallet.
- Follow the prompts.
- Back up the recovery phrase securely.
Step 3: Transfer assets to the temporary wallet
Send your assets from your current wallet to the temporary wallet:
- In your temporary wallet, select Receive.
- Select a chain, then copy the wallet address.
- In your current wallet, select Send.
- Paste the address you copied.
- Select the same chain.
- Repeat for any other assets and chains you want to transfer.
Step 4: Delete your current wallet
After confirming your current wallet is empty, delete it by following these steps:
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy → Delete Wallet.
- Follow the prompts.
Step 5: Create a new wallet
After you delete your current wallet, create a new wallet using the same Apple or Google account:
- Select Create a new wallet.
- Select Continue with Email, then select Apple or Google.
- Follow the prompts.
Step 6: Update the addresses linked to your username
If you previously claimed a Phantom username, you may still see the same username after you create your new seedless wallet. Since your wallet addresses change when you start over, update the addresses linked to your username so that sends to your username go to the right wallet.
To update the linked address, see Update the addresses linked to your Phantom username.
Step 7: Transfer funds to your new wallet
Send your assets from the temporary wallet to your new wallet:
- In your new wallet, select Receive on the Home tab.
- Select a chain, then copy the wallet address.
- In your temporary wallet, select Send on the Home tab.
- Paste the address you copied.
- Select the same chain.
- Repeat for any other assets and chains you want to transfer.
Step 8: Remove the temporary wallet
After you confirm everything has transferred successfully, you can remove the temporary wallet. Because it was created using a recovery phrase, you can uninstall Phantom or reset the app on the device where you created the temporary wallet by going to Settings → Security & Privacy → Reset App.
