This article explains how to move funds from your current Phantom wallet to a new one when you need to start over. This can help if your current wallet was compromised but still contains funds you may be able to move.
Warning: Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase, private keys, or PIN with anyone, including Phantom Support.
This article includes separate steps based on how your current wallet was created:
- If you created your current wallet with a Google or Apple login and a four-digit PIN, go to the Wallets created with a Google or Apple login section.
- If you used a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase, go to the Recovery phrase wallets section.
Before you start
- Before transferring, check for staked tokens, DeFi positions, perpetual or prediction market positions, and Cash account balances. Some of these may require extra steps (unstaking, closing positions, withdrawing) before funds can be moved.
- Cash account balance. Withdraw any CASH to a Solana address you control before proceeding. Your Cash account is tied to your current Phantom profile and cannot be moved. You will need to set up a new Cash account after completing this process.
- You should still be able to access your current wallet on at least one device. If you cannot access the wallet, you will not be able to move funds out of it.
- You have enough native token, such as SOL on Solana or ETH on Ethereum, to cover network fees. For specific amounts, see About network fees.
Wallets created with a Google or Apple login
Step 1: Check what assets are still in your current wallet
Before you delete your current wallet or start over, review everything still connected to it, including the following:
- Token balances
- Collectibles
- Cash account balance
- Staked tokens
- DeFi positions
- Perpetual and prediction market positions
Some assets or positions may require extra steps before you can move funds. For example, you may need to unstake tokens, withdraw from a DeFi app, or close open positions first.
Step 2: Create a temporary wallet with a recovery phrase
Create a temporary wallet to hold your funds while you start over with your social login wallet. This is easiest on another device or in the Phantom browser extension using a supported browser. Safari isn't supported for the Phantom browser extension.
Once Phantom is installed, follow these steps:
- Select Create a New Wallet.
- Select Create a Recovery Phrase Wallet.
- Follow the prompts.
- Back up the recovery phrase securely.
Important: Store the new recovery phrase in a secure, offline location before you transfer any funds.
Step 3: Transfer assets to the temporary wallet
Send your assets from your current wallet to the temporary wallet.
- In your temporary wallet, on the Home tab, select Receive.
- Select a network, then copy the wallet address.
- In your current wallet, select Send.
- Paste the address you copied.
- Select the same network.
- Repeat for any other assets and networks you want to transfer.
Before you continue, confirm that the assets arrived in the temporary wallet.
Step 4: Delete your current wallet
After you confirm your current wallet is empty, delete it:
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy → Delete Wallet.
- Follow the prompts.
If Delete Wallet is not available, go to Settings → Security & Privacy → Reset App, or contact Phantom Support for help closing the account.
Step 5: Create a new wallet
After deleting your current wallet, create a new wallet using your Google or Apple account:
- Select Create a New Wallet.
- Select Continue with Email, then select Apple or Google.
- Follow the prompts.
If your Google or Apple email was not unlinked from your previous wallet, use a different Google or Apple account to create your new wallet.
Once your new wallet is set up, your new Cash account is also ready. To access offchain Cash features (US only, except NY) such as bank deposits, withdrawals, or the debit card, you will need to complete identity verification using a different email address than the one used for your previous Cash account.
Step 6: Update the addresses linked to your username
If you previously claimed a Phantom username, update the addresses linked to it so sends to your username go to the correct wallet. See Manage your username in Phantom.
Step 7: Transfer funds to your new wallet
Send your assets from the temporary wallet to your new wallet.
- In your new wallet, on the Home tab, select Receive.
- Select a network, then copy the wallet address.
- In your temporary wallet, select Send on the Home tab.
- Paste the address you copied.
- Select the same network.
- Repeat for any other assets and networks you want to transfer.
Confirm that everything arrived in your new wallet before you remove the temporary wallet.
Step 8: Remove the temporary wallet
After you confirm everything transferred successfully, remove the temporary wallet by going to Settings → Security & Privacy → Reset App on the device where you created it.
