Create a new Phantom wallet

You can create a new Phantom wallet in two ways. Both are self-custodial, which means only you control your wallet and assets.

Warning: Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone, including Phantom support. Store it in a secure, offline location.

Choose the setup method that works best for you:

• Recovery phrase: You receive a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase that gives you full control of your wallet. Write it down and store it securely offline. You can use it to restore your wallet on any device or import it into other wallet apps that support the same standard.
• Google or Apple account and four-digit PIN: You sign in with your Google or Apple account and set a four-digit PIN. You need both your login method and your PIN to restore your wallet. Your wallet still has a recovery phrase, which you can export and store offline as an additional backup.

Phantom never holds your private key and does not control your assets.

Create a wallet with a recovery phrase

1. Download Phantom from phantom.com/download.
2. Select Create a new wallet → Create a recovery phrase wallet.
3. View your Secret Recovery Phrase, then write it down and store it securely offline.

Create a wallet with Google or Apple

1. Download Phantom from phantom.com/download.
2. Select Create a new wallet → Continue with Email → Continue with Apple or Continue with Google.
3. Set a four-digit PIN.
4. After setup, go to Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase, then store it securely offline.

Start fresh with a new wallet

If your recovery phrase or email account was compromised, create a new wallet and transfer your assets to it. For detailed steps, see Move assets when you need to start over with a new wallet.
