How to Create a New Wallet

DO NOT share your Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Keys with anyone! If someone has access to them, they will have access to your wallet. Phantom support will NEVER ask you for your secret phrase or your private key.

How to Create a New Wallet with the Browser extension: 

Visit https://phantom.com/download and select your browser type. Follow the steps in your respective extension store to add Phantom to your browser. After installing, you should see Phantom start-up in a new tab.

 

How to Create a New Wallet using your Google or AppleID (Email/social login):

You can set up a new Phantom wallet using an email login (Google or Apple ID).

  • If you are a new user, select "Create New Wallet" and then "Continue with Email" to set up an account using your email.

  • Choose Google login or Apple ID and follow the authentication steps to link your email to Phantom.

  • Set up a 4-digit PIN. Make sure to remember your PIN, as it cannot be recovered if lost. Phantom support cannot recover it for you.

  • Do NOT share your PIN with anyone, including Phantom support.

    • On Desktop: After creating your PIN, you will be presented with the final step where you can create a password to unlock the browser extension for added security.

    • Remember, your wallet password is only used to unlock the Phantom app on this particular device, while the PIN is used to log into your account on other devices or recover your account if you lose access to your device or forget your password. Do not lose your PIN!

       

How to Create a New Wallet by Generating a Seed Phrase:

  • If you are a new user, select "Create New Wallet" and then "Create a seed phrase wallet" to set up an account using a seed phrase.

  • If you already have an existing wallet, click "I already have a wallet" and enter your seed phrase or private key, or connect your Ledger hardware wallet to restore your account.

Store your "Secret Recovery Phrase" in a safe and secure location, it is the only way to recover your wallet. At no point will a member of the Phantom team ever ask you for this phrase. Whoever has access to this phrase has access to your funds. 

Select "Continue" after securing your seed phrase.

In the next step, you will find the keyboard shortcuts to access the Phantom app swiftly. Select "Continue" to proceed.
Now you should be in the final step of onboarding, look for the Phantom icon in your browser's toolbar. If you are using Chrome, it will be on the top right-hand side of your browser.

If you don't see it look for a "puzzle piece" icon and click on it to access a list of installed extensions. There you should find Phantom, click on the "pin icon" to make it easier to find in the future.

Mobile app:

Visit https://phantom.com/download and select the app marketplace according to your device type (iOS/Android). You will be redirected to the Phantom application on your device app store, follow the steps to download and install the application on your device. After installing, open the app and you should see the Phantom onboarding screen to set up a new wallet. 

Creating new wallet using an Email:

You can set up a new Phantom wallet using an email login (Google or Apple ID).

  • If you are a new user, select "Create New Wallet" and then "Continue with Email" to set up an account using your email.

  • If you already have a wallet, click "I already have a wallet", then select "Connect Email Wallet" > "Continue with Email".

  • Choose Google login or Apple ID and follow the authentication steps to link your email to Phantom.

  • Set up a 4-digit PIN. Make sure to remember your PIN, as it cannot be recovered if lost. Phantom support cannot retrieve it for you.

  • Do NOT share your PIN with anyone, including Phantom support.

  • After creating your PIN, you will have the option to enable device authentication for added security.

  • Remember, the device authentication (FaceID, passcode, etc) is only used to unlock the Phantom app on this particular device, while the PIN is used to log into your account on other devices or recover your account if you lose access to your device or if you forget your device authentication. Do not lose your PIN!

Creating new wallet using Seed Phrase:

  • If you are a new user, select "Create New Wallet" and then "Create a seed phrase wallet" to set up an account using a seed phrase.

  • If you already have an existing wallet, click "I already have a wallet" and enter your seed phrase or private key, or connect your Ledger hardware wallet to restore your account.

Store your "Secret Recovery Phrase" in a safe and secure location, it is the only way to recover your wallet. The phantom team does NOT have access to your seed phrase nor will we ask for the phrase, ever! If someone has access to your seed phrase, they will have complete control of your wallet forever!
