Add accounts to Phantom after initial setup

  • Updated

Tip: Phantom has a new look on mobile. For an overview of changes, see What's new in Phantom.

Phantom lets you add accounts and wallets at any time after setup. You can create a new account, import a wallet you already own, connect a hardware wallet, or watch an address without spending access.

Add accounts

Create a new account

Creates a new multi-chain account linked to one of your existing wallets. If you have imported multiple recovery phrases, Phantom asks which wallet to use. Good for keeping things separate without starting over.

Browser extension

  1. Click your profile avatar in the upper left.
  2. Click the plus button (Add Account).
  3. Click Create New Account.
  4. Optionally, enter a name for the account, and then click Create.

Mobile app

  1. On the Home tab, tap your account name above your balance.
  2. Tap the plus button (Add Account).
  3. Tap Create New Account.
  4. Optionally, enter a name and choose which recovery phrase to use, and then tap Create.

Other options

Connect Hardware Wallet

Adds accounts from a Ledger hardware wallet. Connect by cable or Bluetooth.

Import Recovery Phrase

Restores a wallet you already own using its 12- or 24-word recovery phrase. Use this only for wallets you control.

See Restore an existing wallet in Phantom.

Import Private Key

Adds a single address on one network. Doesn't restore a full wallet — just that one address. Use this when you need to bring in one specific account.

See Restore an existing wallet in Phantom.

Watch Address

Adds a wallet in view-only mode. You can track balances and activity, but can't send or sign transactions. Useful for monitoring another wallet.

See Manage watch-only wallets in Phantom.
