Step 1: Download Phantom

Where to download

Visit phantom.com to download the browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave. You can also download the Phantom mobile app for iOS or Android from the App Store or Google Play.

Why download from the official website

Using the official website helps you avoid scams and malicious software.

Installation steps

After downloading, follow the instructions to add the extension to your browser or install the mobile app. Setup typically takes only a few minutes.

Step 2: Create a wallet

Once Phantom is installed, it’s time to create your wallet.

Follow the prompts

Open the app or extension and select Create New Wallet. Phantom will guide you through each step.

You can choose from two setup options:

  • Seedless login: Use your email and a PIN code.

Step 3: Fund your wallet

To start using Phantom, add cryptocurrency to your wallet.

Choose a supported blockchain

Phantom supports a number of blockchain networks, including Solana, Ethereum, Polygon, and Base.

Transfer funds

If you already own crypto:

  • Transfer it from an exchange or another wallet.
  • Copy your wallet address from Phantom and use it as the destination.
  • Confirm the address and network match before sending.

Check your balance

Once the transfer is complete, your wallet will display your funds. Transactions may take a few minutes, depending on the network.

Step 4: Explore Phantom features

Once your wallet is set up and funded, start exploring what Phantom can do.

Manage cryptocurrencies

View token balances, transaction history, and market prices in real time. Phantom supports tokens across a variety of networks.

Swap tokens

Use the built-in Swap feature to exchange one cryptocurrency for another.

  • Swap tokens within the same blockchain.
  • Use the Cross-Chain Swapper to bridge tokens between networks.
  • Bitcoin swapping is not supported at this time.

For more information, see Phantom Swapper FAQ.

Manage NFTs

Phantom makes it easy to view, store, and manage NFTs. You can connect to marketplaces to buy, sell, or trade collectibles.

Use dApps

Phantom lets you connect to decentralized apps, such as:

  • DeFi platforms for lending, borrowing, and staking

Additional tips

Understand transaction fees

Each network requires its native token for fees. For example:

  • SOL for Solana
  • ETH for Ethereum
  • POL for Polygon
  • BASE for Base

Make sure you have a small balance of the native token to complete transactions.

Enable security features

  • Use biometric authentication like Face ID on mobile.
  • Keep your recovery phrase private.
