Zap is shutting down on June 1, 2026. To keep access to your tokens and NFTs, you need to export your private key from Zap and import it into Phantom before that date.
Your assets are tied to your private key, not the Zap app, so nothing is lost in the move. Importing your key into Phantom gives you the exact same wallet address, with the same tokens, NFTs, and transaction history.
Before you start
Here's what you'll need:
- The Zap app, with access to your account.
- The Phantom app: download it for free on iOS, Android, or as a browser extension at phantom.com/download.
- A private moment. You will be viewing your private key, so make sure no one can see your screen.
Step 1: Export your private key from Zap
- Open the Zap app and go to Settings.
- Tap Export Private Key.
- Verify your identity if prompted (password, Face ID, or similar).
- Your private key will appear on screen. Write it down by hand or copy it carefully.
Keep your private key safe. Anyone with your private key has full control over your funds. Do not screenshot it, paste it into a chat, or email it to yourself. Write it down and store it somewhere secure and offline. Never share it with anyone, including Phantom Support.
Step 2: Import your private key into Phantom
New to Phantom
- Download and open the Phantom app or browser extension.
- On the welcome screen, select I Already Have a Wallet → Other Import Options → Import Private Key.
- Choose the network your Zap wallet was on. Most Zap users should select Solana.
- Enter a name for the account. This is only visible to you.
- Paste or enter your private key.
- Select Import.
Already have Phantom
- Open Phantom and select your profile avatar in the upper left.
- Go to Settings → Manage Accounts → Add Account → Import Private Key.
- Choose the correct network (likely Solana).
- Enter a name for the account.
- Paste your private key and confirm.
- Your wallet is now accessible in Phantom, including all tokens, NFTs, and transaction history tied to that address.
Step 3: Verify your funds
After importing, check that everything looks right:
- Confirm your wallet address in Phantom matches your Zap wallet address.
- Check that your token balances match what you had in Zap.
- Look for any NFTs or collectibles in the Collectibles tab.
If a token does not appear, take these steps:
- Mobile app: on the Home tab, tap Tokens, then tap the icon in the upper right to access the Manage Tokens list. Search for the token and toggle it on manually.
- Browser extension: on the Home tab, click Tokens. Click the three-dot icon in the upper right, then click Manage Tokens. Search for the token and toggle it on manually.
FAQ
What if I miss the June 1 deadline?
After June 1, the Zap app will no longer be available. However, Zap has confirmed that users who have not yet exported their private keys will still be able to access their funds through Privy Home. Your crypto is not going anywhere—it is tied to your private key, not to any app.
That said, migrating before the deadline is easier and gives you full control right away.
Will I get the same wallet address in Phantom?
Yes. Importing your private key gives you the exact same wallet address. Your tokens, NFTs, and onchain history all carry over.
Does it cost anything to migrate?
No. Importing a private key into Phantom is free. There are no transfer fees because you are not moving funds—you are accessing the same wallet through the Phantom app.
What networks does Phantom support?
Phantom supports Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Base, and Polygon, among other networks. If your Zap wallet was on Solana, which is the most common setup, you are all set.
Can I use Phantom on my phone and browser at the same time?
Yes. You can import the same private key into both Phantom's mobile app and browser extension. Both will show the same wallet.
I imported my key but my tokens are not showing up. What should I do?
A few things to check:
- Make sure you selected the correct network when importing (for example, Solana).
- Try refreshing by pulling down on the main screen.
- Go to the token list to search for and toggle on specific tokens.
If you still need help, reach out to Phantom Support.
I no longer have access to the Zap app. Can I still migrate?
If you still have your private key or seed phrase saved somewhere, you can import it directly into Phantom. If you have lost both, Zap's post-shutdown recovery through Privy may be your best option.
