Swap tokens in Phantom

  • Updated

You can swap tokens in Phantom on the same network or across different networks. For example, you can swap SOL for USDC on Solana, or swap USDC on Solana for USDC on Ethereum. Swapping across networks is also known as bridging.

When you swap, Phantom routes your transaction through trusted decentralized exchanges (DEXs), called swap providers, to find the best available price and execution.

Before you begin

To complete a swap, you need the network’s native token to pay network fees (gas). As a general guideline, 0.02 SOL or 0.002 ETH should cover a few transactions. For other networks, see Recommended amounts of native tokens by network.

Swap tokens in Phantom

Browser extension

  1. Click Swap.
  2. In the top field, choose the token you want to swap from.
  3. In the lower field, choose the token (and network) you want to swap to.
  4. Enter the amount in either field.
  5. Review the quote, including slippage, price impact, and fees. In most cases, the default settings are fine. If you’re swapping a volatile token (such as a meme coin), you may need to adjust slippage.
  6. Click Swap Now to submit the transaction.

After the swap completes, check the Tokens section for the token you swapped to. If it doesn’t appear right away, click the three dots, then click Refresh.

If the swap is taking longer than expected, you can track it on a blockchain explorer: go to Recent Activity (clock icon), click your transaction, then click View on [explorer].

For more information, see How to view your wallet activity on a blockchain explorer. For cross-network swaps, you can also use the Li.Fi Scanner to view real-time progress.

Mobile app

  1. Tap Swap.
  6. Tap Swap Now to submit the transaction.

After the swap completes, go to Home, then tap Tokens to check for the token you swapped to. If it doesn’t appear right away, pull down to refresh.

If the swap is taking longer than expected, you can track it on a blockchain explorer: go to HomeRecent Activity (clock icon), tap your transaction, then tap View on [explorer].

For more information, see How to view your wallet activity on a blockchain explorer. For cross-network swaps, you can also use the Li.Fi Scanner to view real-time progress.

Other ways to swap

You can also start a swap from a token’s detail page. This pre-fills one side of the swap.

  • Browser extension: Open a token, then click Swap.
  • Mobile app: Open a token, then tap Buy or Sell.

Adjust swap settings

In most cases, you can leave swap settings set to Auto and proceed. If you need more control, open Settings in the upper-right corner before you confirm the swap. This can help if your swap is failing or you’re trading a volatile token.

  • Slippage: This is the difference between the quoted price and the final execution price of a trade. For more information, see What is slippage?
  • Priority fee: This is an additional fee that may help your transaction confirm faster when the network is busy. For more information, see What is priority fee?
  • Tip: An optional amount you can add to reward the validator that processes your transaction.

Fees

Swap fees can vary by token, network, and route, especially for cross-chain swaps. You’ll see a full fee breakdown in the app before you confirm.

Fee Description
Phantom fee 0.85% aggregator fee, charged on select swap pairs.
Network fees (gas) Fees paid to the network in the native token (such as SOL or ETH). For cross-chain swaps, gas may apply on both the source and destination networks.
Bridge or liquidity provider fees Fees charged by the DEX, bridge, or liquidity provider used for your route. These vary by route and are included in your quote. For some cross-chain routes, this may be around 0.3%, but it’s not a fixed amount.
Gasless swap fee 1.5% fee on Solana in the mobile app for trades over $15 that qualify for gasless routing.
