Import an existing wallet into Phantom

  • Updated

Tip: Phantom has a new look on mobile. For an overview of changes, see What's new in Phantom.

You can import an existing wallet by signing in with your Google or Apple account, using a Secret Recovery Phrase or private key, or connecting a hardware wallet. The steps depend on whether you've already set up Phantom on this device.

I just downloaded Phantom

If you haven't set up a wallet on this device yet, start from the welcome screen and choose how you want to import.

Mobile app

Follow the steps in Use a Ledger wallet with the Phantom mobile app.

Follow the steps in Use a Ledger wallet with the Phantom browser extension.

Imported private keys

A private key gives you access to one address on one network. Importing one adds that address to Phantom as a standalone account, separate from your main wallet. Unlike the wallet tied to your signed-in profile, private keys don't sync across devices. You'll need to re-import the key on each device you use.

Mobile app

  1. Open the Phantom mobile app.
  2. Tap I Already Have a WalletOther Import OptionsImport Private Key.
  3. Enter a name for the account.

I already have Phantom set up

If you've already set up a wallet on this device, you can import another wallet or account from inside the app without resetting.

Import a recovery phrase

A recovery phrase gives you access to a full wallet and all the accounts derived from it. Importing one adds those accounts to Phantom alongside your existing wallet, so you can hold more than one wallet in the same app. Any additionally imported recovery phrase stay on the device where you add them, so you'll need to import them again on each device you use.

Mobile app

  1. On the Home tab, tap your account name above your balance.
  2. Tap the + button in the upper right.
  3. Tap Import Recovery Phrase.
  4. Enter your recovery phrase in the correct order.
  5. Tap Import.

Browser extension

  1. Click your profile avatar in the upper left.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Click Import Recovery Phrase.
  4. Enter your recovery phrase in the correct order.
  5. Click Import Wallet.

Sync your wallet between the mobile app and browser extension

To use the same wallet, funds, and assets on both the mobile app and browser extension, import the same credentials on each: sign in to the same Google or Apple account, import the same Secret Recovery Phrase or private keys, or connect the same Ledger wallet.
