You can send crypto from Phantom to wallet addresses, exchanges, Phantom usernames, or domain names.
Requirements
You need a small amount of the network's native token (such as SOL on Solana or ETH on Ethereum) to cover the fee for your transaction. If you don't have enough, the transaction will fail.
See About gas (network fees) for more information.
Send crypto
Browser extension
- On the Home tab, click Send. Or open any token and click Send to pre-fill the token.
- Choose the token you want to send. Skip this if already prefilled. For non-native tokens, check the network icon to confirm you're on the correct network.
- Paste the recipient's address, username, or domain name.
- Enter an amount.
- Click Next, review the details, then click Send.
Your crypto is sent after the transaction confirms. If you're sending to a new address, Phantom may warn you that the wallet has no balance or transaction history. You can continue if you're sure the address is correct.
Warning: Sending on the wrong network can result in lost funds. Always verify the network matches on both Phantom and the receiving address.

Send crypto to an exchange
- Confirm the exchange supports the token and network. Some exchanges support a network but not every token on it.
- Confirm you've selected the same network in both Phantom and the exchange.
- Copy and paste the deposit address from the exchange. Never type it manually.
- If the exchange requires a memo or tag, enter it in the Memo field.
- Enter an amount.
- Review the details, then select Send.
Warning: Sending on the wrong network can result in lost funds. Always verify the network matches in both Phantom and the exchange. When sending to a new address, send a small test amount first.
Common issues
Phantom shows "Invalid format"
The address format doesn't match the selected network. Verify you're sending on the correct network.
Not enough gas to complete the transaction
Every transaction on a blockchain requires a network fee (gas) paid in the network's native token. Make sure you have enough native tokens to cover the fee before sending. See About network fees (gas) for more information.
The token may be a scam
Some scam tokens are designed to trap your funds. They let you receive or buy them but block you from sending or selling. If you don't recognize the token or received it unexpectedly, it may be a scam. Verify the token's contract address before interacting. Phantom cannot remove or unlock trapped tokens.
The network is congested
Transactions can fail when networks are busy. On Ethereum, Polygon, and Bitcoin, try increasing your gas fee. On Solana and Sui, wait and retry during lower traffic.
Tokens sent to an unsupported network
If you sent tokens on an unsupported network like BSC or Arbitrum, they may not appear in Phantom but are often recoverable. Use an EVM-compatible wallet like MetaMask or Trust Wallet to access them. See Recover tokens sent to unsupported networks.
The recipient address is incorrect
Sending to an incorrect or incompatible address can cause your transaction to fail or result in lost funds. Always copy and paste addresses rather than typing them manually.
FAQ
Can Phantom recover my tokens?
No. Phantom is non-custodial and cannot reverse or retrieve transactions. See I need help reversing a transaction for more information.
What if the exchange requires a memo but Phantom doesn't show the field?
Phantom only shows the memo field for tokens that support memos. If the field doesn't appear, the token doesn't require one.
