How to get started with Phantom

  • Updated

Phantom is a secure and user-friendly cryptocurrency wallet that helps you access the blockchain ecosystem. Whether you are new to crypto or already experienced, this guide explains how to set up and start using your Phantom wallet safely.

Get started with your Phantom wallet

Step 1: Download the Phantom app

Where to download

Visit phantom.com/download to download the Phantom browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, or Brave. You can also download the Phantom mobile app for iOS or Android from the App Store or Google Play.

Why download from the official website

Downloading Phantom from official sources helps you avoid scams and malicious software. Always confirm the URL before installing.

Steps to install

After downloading, follow the on-screen instructions to add the extension to your browser or install the mobile app.

Step 2: Create a wallet

Once the app or extension is installed, you can create your wallet.

Open the mobile app or extension and select Create new wallet. Phantom will guide you through each step.

You can choose from two setup options:

  • Seedless login: Sign in with your Google or Apple account and set a 4-digit PIN.
  • Recovery phrase: Use a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase provided during setup. A recovery phrase (also known as a seed phrase) is used to restore your wallet.

Warning: Don't share your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key with anyone. If someone has access to either, they will have full control of your wallet. Phantom Support will never ask for your recovery phrase or private key.

For more information, see How to create a new Phantom wallet.

If you already own crypto:
